Born in Umtata, South Africa, in 1983, Athi-Patra Ruga studied fashion illustration in Johannesburg and works with performance, textile, and photography. His construction of myth remodels everyday life in post-apartheid South Africa, while his 2D tapestries deliver a contemporary pop sensibility.
