Citizen Noir

Citizen Noir

A series of events exploring the intersection of race, politics and culture.

As a series of events, Citizen Noir’s objectives are as equally concerned with the past as they are with the present, with a view to the not too distant future. Through workshops, discussions, and performances we will come together to discuss, to dissect, to question, and to consider the impact which race and racism have on various cultures around the world.

June 21, 7pm – Decolonising Science

Decolonising Science invites two Black Queer individuals working with different scientific disciplines to speak about the presence that race, racism, and colonialism have in the scientific fields that they specialise in. We have been taught that science is objective, yet many of us remember how science was used to dehumaise Black and other people of color. On the occasion of this evening we will have the benefit of being in the presence of two inquisitive minds who’s work has lead them to question neturality in the methods used in their individual practises.

June 23, 7pm – Portrait Noir Edition W

A conversation between four, Black, Queer women. Presented in a mock talk show format, this dialogue features an international, multicultural cast. Please join.
