Blank Projects is an independent, artist-run space with a gallery that was founded in 2005 in Cape Town.

In 2009 the gallery moved to a new, more spacious location in the heart of Cape Town’s art district. Blank Projects is a hybrid consisting of a gallery and project space, promoting new developments in contemporary South African art, disseminating innovative ideas in the context of contemporary art in Africa and showing experimental art practices by emerging and established artists. Apart from organising monthly exhibitions, Blank Projects is a venue for artist talks and events. In collaboration with Pro Helvetia and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Blank Projects also offers a residency program for visiting artists in order to further the essential dialogue and cultural exchange between South Africa and Europe. Recently Blank Projects has also started collaborating with the German Goethe-Institut.
