The Goethe-Institut is a globally active, cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. It has played a central role in carrying out Germany’s foreign cultural and educational policy for more than 60 years.
It promotes instruction in German language abroad while cultivating international cultural collaboration. In addition, the Goethe-Institut projects a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on Germany’s cultural, social and political life.
The Goethe-Institut Nigeria organises and assists with a broad spectrum of events for the presentation of German culture in Nigeria; it works with its Nigerian partners to implement projects to promote intercultural exchange. Each year, the immersion courses in German language instruction are attended by more than 800 participants who go on to pass one of the globally recognised examinations administered by the Goethe-Institut. The Goethe-Institut Nigeria promotes German as a foreign language in Nigerian universities and schools through workshops and seminars for instructors of German. The library provides information on current aspects of cultural, social and political life in Germany. It offers extensive collections of books and other media for all those with an interest in Germany, or who wish to learn or teach the German language.
