Afronova Founder Henri Vergon Passed Away

Henri Vergon of Johannesburg gallery Afronova has passed away this week. In 2016 C& worked with Vergnon by inviting Afronova to present a film by Lebohang Keganye at the Armory Show's Focus: African Perspectives. The gallerist was a key figure of the South African art scene.

The gallerist with whom we worked in 2016 when we invited Afronova to present a film by Lebohang Keganye at the Armory Show’s Focus: African Perspectives, was a key figure in the South African art scene.

Established in 2005, Afronova has held numerous exhibitions by artists from around Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean. By showcasing a series of performances, book launches and readings, fashion shows, screenings, gatherings, and artist residencies, the gallery has stayed true to its purpose of being a polyphonic platform for African contemporary expressions. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of Henri Vergon.
