In Nigeria geboren, lebt und arbeitet Ruby Onyinyechi Amanze heute in New York. 2004 schloss sie ihren BFA an der Tyler School of Art der Temple University mit summa cum laude ab; 2006 machte sie ihren MFA an der Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. 2012-2013 erhielt sie ein Fulbright-Stipendium für Malerei an der University of Nigeria in Nsukka. Als bildende Künstlerin arbeitet Amanze vor allem mit Arbeiten auf Papier. Ihre Werke sind in nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen zu sehen, unter anderem in New York, Johannesburg, Miami, London und Lagos. 2014-2015 war sie Stipendiatin des Residenzprogramms „Workspace“ des Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; im Sommer 2015 nahm sie am Fountainhead Residenzprogramm in Miami teil. Derzeit ist sie Artist-in-Residence im New Yorker Queens Museum.
