Miguel Alejandro Machado Suárez – Yo Soy

Miguel Alejandro Machado Suárez – Yo Soy
"Yo Soy" [I am]” unites different work groups dating from 2016 until 2020 by the Cuban artist Miguel A. Machado Suárez., demonstrating the artist's virtuosity and skill of technique. By mixing comic elements with historical painting, traditional three-layer or postimpressionist techniques, the artist addresses universal as well as pictorial questions, thereby fostering vision and thought. For Miguel, being a painter means actual being, which "Yo Soy" impressively visualizes. "One of the attractions of painting, is to have the possibility of not thinking, while doing it. For me it is something natural, necessary and vital. The sheer existence allows me to paint, and painting helps to exist." Miguel A. Machado Suárez, born in 1990 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. He studied Fine Arts and Painting at the "Instituto Superior de Arte ISA", Havana, and at the Academia Profesional "Eduardo Abela" in San Antonio De Los Baños. His work was awarded various prizes, among them the AHS Award of the Asociacion Hermanos Saínz. Miguel A. Machado Suárez lives and works in Havana. "Yo Soy" is Miguel's first solo exhibition in Europe.
The solo exhibition will be accompanied with the publication of the monograph “Miguel Alejandro Machado Suárez”, which presents a detailed study of the work of the Cuban painter. The publication focuses on four work periods and bodies of work from 2013 until today.
