Banana Republic – Muyiwa Akinwolere and Agemo Francis

The Banana Republic exhibition is a satirical take on happenings in the political, social and economic sphere of Nigeria. The artists explore the voice of the citizen lampooned in their daily and national life, sitting squarely with the big elephant in the room –CORRUPTION!

The series poses a provocation to the viewer, on the serious issues that fail to be given due attention, whilst finding hope in humour. The Banana Republic is a dual exhibition featuring Muyiwa Akinwolere and Agemo Francis. The two artists collocated in Badagry but working from two very different perspectives.

The Banana Republic exhibition will be produced and presented by A Whitespace Creative Agency.
