This Time Tomorrow is a new four-day festival of contemporary performance presented by the Contemporary Arts Center. Bringing together local, national, and international artists and their works. This Time Tomorrow occurs at locations throughout the city behind an ethos of exploration, experimentation, and collaboration. In addition to performances, the spirit of liveness will continue on through creative workshops, open discourse, and a vibrant late-night hub.

This Time Tomorrow’s arrival comes at a pivotal cultural moment. The unease with our fractured sense of commonality has encouraged the pursuits of other ways of joining together with people. More than any other art form, performance satisfies that urge. Its ephemeral nature requires a presence, an assembly, an interaction.

The configuration and scale may shift dramatically; in a grand hall for Rashaad Newsome’s Running, or having a personal interaction with Lorena Molina’s Tu nombre entre nuestras lenguas and Tania El Khoury’s As Far As My Fingertips Take Me. You may be part of the audience, contributing to the performance firsthand like in Intermedio’s On Touching, or watching your friends and neighbors on stage in Mammalian Diving Reflex’s All The Sex I’ve Ever Had. The breadth of presentational possibilities perfectly reflects the multitude of experiences available for those who are curious about the world and passionate about artistic expressions.

The festival also includes and promotes more intimate intersections with the artists and audience through artist talks at the Goetta-Institut – a nod to the region’s German heritage and culinary treats, and celebrations at the late night Hub where each night will feature an entirely new live art encounter (featuring unique performances by Radical Visibility Collective, TRIIIBE and FOGGER). These will be the spots to further immerse oneself in the performances, exchange ideas and hear about the shows you need to see.

With This Time Tomorrow, we offer the opportunity to embrace what makes contemporary performance essential to culture; the expectation of the unexpected, and a hunger for the new. The artists will be taking risks, and we hope the audience will as well.

With NIC Kay, Rashaad Newsome, Lorena Molina, Tania El Khoury, Intermedio, Daina Ashbee, Joseph Keckler, Amanda Curreri, Perform-a-thon and Mammalian Diving Reflex.
