Raíces y renacimiento: Mujeres Dominicanas en el Arte
<em>Raíces y Renacimiento</em> examina cómo las artistas dominicanas rinden honor a su historia mientras reformulan el significado de pertenencia en una cultura que evoluciona.
Curada por Austria Ulloa, Raíces y Renacimiento: Mujeres Dominicanas en el Arte trae al Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture las obras de 22 artistas dominicanas. Por medio de la pintura, la escultura, la fotografía y los medios mixtos las artistas tienden un puente entre la herencia cultural y la expresión contemporánea, a la vez que reinterpretan la tradición y toman nuevas orientaciones creadoras. Sus obras se comprometen con temas como memoria, identidad y transformación, nutriéndose del folclore dominicano, de la espiritualidad afrocaribeña y las experiencias de migración y de diáspora.
"Esta muestra subraya el poder de las voces de las mujeres dominicanas en el arte contemporáneo. Su obra es testimonio de la resiliencia de la identidad cultural y las infinitas posibilidades de la reinvención artística”, dice Austria Ulloa.

Raíces y Renacimiento: Mujeres Dominicanas en el Arte puede verse en Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture hasta el 16 de abril.
