Una exhibición de artistas brasileros contemporáneos en los Estados Unidos aborda aspectos políticos y culturales de la historia de Brasil.

Organizada por Adele Nelson, profesora adjunta de historia del arte (UT Austin), y MacKenzie Stevens, directora del Centro de Artes Visuales, junto con María Emilia Fernández, curadora adjunta, Social Fabric presenta a artistas que entienden el arte como plataforma de compromiso crítico con las configuraciones históricas, políticas y culturales de un determinado lugar, y contribuye a establecer conversaciones locales y globales sobre el estado de la democracia. Al rechazar la neutralidad y arrojar luz sobre historias de opresión autorizada por el estado y de inequidad persistente, los artistas participantes de Social Fabric brindan diferentes abordajes del activismo y abren senderos hacia la justicia y la curación.

Con un amplio rango de medios que incluye la instalación, la pintura, la performance, la fotografía, la escultura y el video, la muestra presenta más de sesenta trabajos y varias obras nuevas encargadas. Puede verse hasta el 20 de marzo de 2023. Posteriormente, estará en el Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de la Universidad de San Pablo (MAC USP), Brasil.
