Unruly Thoughts

Unruly Thoughts

Unruly Thoughts

The first edition of Austria's upcoming feminist festival is dedicated entirely to the empowerment, exchange and global networking of women*.

Over the course of three days the online-only event unites feminist voices from Africa and the African diaspora in the various fields of culture, academia and art. The festivals aim is to bring together feminist perspectives apart from Eurocentric thought patterns and to offer a counterpoint to current global political movements which try to force a step backwards in social, intellectual, democratic and feminist achievements. Whilst exclusion and limitations determine today’s political discourse, the festival negotiates different positions and strategies of women* in the fight for equal rights and justice.

Moderated by Tmnit Ghide aka T.Total

Tmnit Ghide is Eritrean, born and raised in southern Germany. She is co-founder and operator of the Berlin label and platform ALVOZAY and works herself as DJ and music curator. House, Rap, Ghetto Tech, Footwork, Disco, Zouk – you name it – Tmnit aka DJ T.Total believes genres are a myth and merges genres which supposedly do not go together. As a participant of different collectives like Munich’s Afrodiaspora2.0, Vienna’s Bad & Boujee or BlackMovementAustria, she is dedicated to socio-political questions and challenges in different forms – artistic and activist alike. Always careful to build a bridge between the African continent and the Diaspora

Artists/speakers include:

Shirley Bruno - film screening of "Tezen" (Haiti)

Everlane Morales - film screening of "Aurora" (Cuba)

Éthel Oliveira & Juliá Mariano - film screening of "Seeds: Black women in Power" (Brazil)
