Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art - Spring exhibitions 2014

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art presents its spring exhibition program:
Mona Hatoum: Turbulence
7 February–18 May
Mona Hatoum questions concepts of geographies, identity, territory, and space. Turbulence is the artist's largest solo show in the Arab world, presenting more than seventy works made within the last thirty years. Curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath, the exhibition highlights the diversity of Hatoum's œuvre through room installations, sculptures, photographs, works on paper, along with documentation of her early performances.
Etel Adnan: In All Her Dimensions
18 March–6 July
In March, Mathaf presents the work of Lebanese-American visual artist, poet, and essayist Etel Adnan. The large overview at Mathaf will display more than 160 artworks, including Adnan's paintings, drawings, leporellos, tapestries, writings, and films from the 1960s and onwards. The exhibition, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, is the largest survey to date of Etel Adnan’s significant oeuvre.
Manal AlDowayan: Crash
25 January–30 March
Saudi artist Manal AlDowayan transforms Mathaf's Project Space into a temporary artist studio. Open to the public for the project's duration, AlDowayan explores car accidents experienced by female schoolteachers in Saudi Arabia. Crash is a collaborative project that works with students, professors, journalists, and the public through discussions and workshops.
