Tern Gallery presents We Are Our Own Discoverers, an exhibition bringing together the works of Bahamian artists Amaani Hepburn, Cydne Jasmin Coleby, Heino Schmid, and Mathew David Rahming. Curated by Christina Wong-Turnquest, the exhibition positions the artists as adventurers and discoverers entrusted with the mission to investigate the undercurrents of community, culture, and identity.

Taking inspiration from the late Patricia Glinton-Meicholas’s poetry collection Chasing Light, specially the poem Staking Claim to Our Souls. The works ask how acts of self - definition can emerge from within rather than through inherited narratives or imposed structures.

We Are Our Own Discoverers considers discovery not as conquest, but as an inward excavation through distinct visual languages where the artists navigate questions of belonging, cultural memory, and transformation, illuminating the unseen forces that shape identity and collective consciousness.
