Smooth Ugochukwu C. Nzewi

Smooth Ugochukwu C. Nzewi is a Nigerian-born curator, art historian, and artist. He is currently the Steven and Lisa Tananbaum Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. Prior to MoMA, he held curatorial positions at the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Hood Museum at Dartmouth College. Nzewi specializes in modern and contemporary African art and has curated numerous exhibitions that expand global perspectives on art history. He is also a trained sculptor and has contributed significantly to scholarship on postcolonial and contemporary African artistic practices.
