Veronica Ryan: Unruly Objects

Pulitzer Arts Foundation presents more than a hundred sculptures, textiles, works on paper, and objects by Veronica Ryan, emphasizing the artist's concern with personal and cultural significance embedded in everyday objects.

Curated by Tamara H. Schenkenberg, with Molly Moog as curatorial assistant, Veronica Ryan: Unruly Objects explores themes of transformation, memory, and care through materials in a poetic way.

The exhibition spans several decades of Ryan’s career, showcasing her engagement with organic forms such as seeds, pods, and fruits—symbols of growth, migration, and renewal. Her works often combine handmade, found, and natural elements, encouraging viewers to reflect on the personal and cultural significance embedded in everyday objects. Throughout the exhibition, Ryan reimagines familiar materials—including lead, textiles, plastic bottles, bronze casts, and food packaging—into sculptures that evoke themes of healing, displacement, and continuity.
