The Martinican curator passed away in his home island on June 26.

Curator Caryl* Ivrisse Crochemar passed away on June 26, in his home island, Martinique.

Crochemar founded[creative renegades society.], a dynamic cultural platform specializing in unconventional art and creative projects. In 2013, he also initiated the art gallery espaced’art contemporain 14°N 61°W, which showcases Martinican artists and fosters international collaborations. Recently, Crochemar curated the exhibition "Transatlantic Connections: Caribbean Narratives in Contemporary Art" (2023) for the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair. This exhibition brought together modern and contemporary Caribbean artists, celebrating their cultural contributions within the global Black Diaspora.

As a supporter and friend, Caryl* Ivrisse Crochemar will be missed in the Contemporary And (C&) network, and remembered for his contributions to the Caribbean Contemporary Art scene and its Diaspora.
