Tate Cancels Turner Prize 2020 and Announces ‘Turner Bursaries’

Tate Britain announced the Turner Prize is cancelled this year, due to the current situation of COVID-19 and its present restrictions. The circumstances make it too difficult to prepare the annual exhibition, which usually surrounds the renowned prize, so the explanation. In place of the prize, they will be awarding one-off bursaries of £10,000 to 10 artists. The ‘Turner Bursaries’ will be selected by the jury at the end of June, among the jurors designer and curator Duro Olowu.

The jury has spent 12 months visiting hundreds of exhibitions in preparation for selecting the nominees.
