TAG: Celebrating Greatmore and Thupelo – Group Show

17 Février 2017

Clôture: 24 février 2017

Thupelo and Greatmore share a rich history of developing the careers of a diverse group of artists. The studios in Greatmore Street, Woodstock, spiritual and physical home to both organisations, have seen countless creatives walk through their doors. Countless? Well maybe not entirely.

TAG, which is a play on the acronym for “Thupelo and Greatmore”, is an attempt to start accounting as it were, -to add names and stories to the myriad faces. The exhibition invites alumni from both organisations to join us in an exercise of shared remembering, placing, and interactive tagging. A selection of artworks, photos, fliers and posters has been collected and will be presented at the exhibition. Kokis, pens and crayons will be provided.

The show opens on Friday 17 February at 6pm with a satellite to be seen at Greatmore’s booth at the Cape Town Art Fair.

Participating artists are: Bronwyn Katz, Gary Frier, Harriet Remmets, Janet Ranson, Jeannette Unite, Jeff Lok, Jill Trappler, Nico Phooko, Roelf Daling, Thania Petersen, Tyrrel Thaysen, William Kentridge, Ziyanda Majozi with additional archival material by: Juliana Irene Smith, Krishna Luchoomun, Nico Phooko, Sultana Hakim.
