The Supernatural Atlas - Masterclass Lisandro Suriel

The base of the work of photographer Lisandro Suriel is formed by his research. In his view, creativity – for example in his form of photography - is more about perspective than skill. What do our choices tell us about our subconscious choices? And how does this influence the telling of history? With this masterclass Lisandro dives deeper into the layered history of the Atlantic World, focusing on themes rooted in Afro-Carribean philosophy and decolonial thinking.

In this masterclass Lisandro will guide you through his research process. All participants are asked to take three images, that remind you of the theme ‘The Island Below the Sea’. During the masterclass we will research the choices made and collectively create a new artwork. Where do our choices collide and where do they differ? What is this telling us about our view on reality and history?
