Las Nietas de Nonó – Ilustraciones de la Mecánica

Wednesday, 4th July 2018, 7 pm

Wednesday, 18th July 2018, 7 pm

For the 10th Berlin Biennale, the Volksbühne Pavilion features the artistic project Ilustraciones de la Mecánica by Las Nietas de Nonó that considers the historical location and includes a malleable installation open to public participation. The work entails video and intermittent performances as well as objects, masks, and “skins” of female bodies —figures made of vegetable leather, a result of the manufacturing process of kombucha.

Free admission. Please note that due to limited capacity, RSVP for tickets is required. Registration is now possible via idlm@berlinbiennale.de.

Think I’m Not #13: The *foundationClass’ non-Cafeteria of the Academy of Misery

Thuesday, 5th July 2018, 7 pm

Akin to the kitchen table, the art academy’s cafeteria is a space where conspiratorial, heretical, unobjective, impertinent, and amateur opinions are articulated, validated, and dismantled for their own sake, rather than for the purpose of knowledge production.

Operating from a space of brokenness that is within, but not of, the academy and that is neither for nor against it, the *foundationClass invites you to join the non-Cafeteria of the Academy of Misery in order to enter into study—a mode of thinking with others that is separate from the thinking the institution requires of you. This prepares us to be embedded in what Fred Moten and Stefano Harney call “the with and for”.

Performance, mainly in English, Free admission,

Akademie der Künste

I’m Not Who You Think I’m Not #14: I’m Not Who You Think I’m Not meets Speisekino Dinner and short films, subtitles in English

Host: Christopher Cozier

…and to think you had me believing that all this time…

“You like to tell stories” is a frequent accusation. Telling stories implies a distortion, or fabrication that drifts or shifts too far away from facts. Perhaps, always in danger of arriving at truths.

These videos narrate an ongoing journey – they speak to each other in as much as they speak with us. So, this is a collective performative assembly of works. Time based fragments, collected or seen over time, now placed together, within a moment, within a space, in Berlin, to create an experience or awareness. What they are saying, producing or conjuring. Let’s see or feel.
