Walter Andrés Caicedo was born in 1990 in Puerto Tejada in northern Cauca, Colombia. He began his studies in plastic arts at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cali in 2015.
Using installation and video, Caicedo reflects on the symbolic elements of funeral rituals in the Afro-Colombian communities in the Colombian Pacific and how they are contrasted with festive elements and transformed from migratory phenomena.
Among a number of collective exhibitions, Caicedo’s participation in the XVI Regional Artists Hall in 2018 in the Pacific region, Popayán, stands out. In 2019, he took part in the exhibition Manglaria: Raíces y sujeciones at the Tertulia Museum in Cali.
