Andrew Tshabangu est né en 1966 à Soweto. Ses photographies ont fait l’objet de nombreuses expositions dans le monde entier. Connu pour son utilisation d’éclairages à la fois nébuleux et surréalistes, Andrew Tshabangu documente les rituels des communautés noires de l’Afrique urbaine. Il a enseigné la photographie en 1995 au Children’s Photography Workshop et en 1998 au Market Photo Workshop. En  2008, il a organisé un atelier consacré à la photographie portant le titre «  Amnesia: Platform III  », dans les locaux du Goethe Institut de Nairobi.
