The Jack Shainman Gallery was established in 1984 in Washington, DC, but moved to New York soon after its opening. The gallery presents, represents and supports artists from all over the world, but its focus is on artists from Africa, East Asia and North America, such as Zwelethu Mthethwa, Tallur L.N., El Anatsui, Malick Sidibé

Fondée en 1984 à Washington, la galerie Jack Shainman a néanmoins rapidement déménagé à New York après son ouverture. La galerie présente, représente et soutient des artistes venant de tous horizons, même si elle consacre plus particulièrement des artistes originaires d’Afrique, d’Asie orientale et d’Amérique du Nord, tels que Zwelethu Mthethwa, Tallur L.N., El Anatsui, Malick Sidibé, Deborah N. Luster ou Anton Kannemeyer.
La galerie accueille une douzaine d’expositions par an, publie à la fois des catalogues et des articles spécialisés et participe aux principales foires internationales d’art, comme Art Basel, Art Basel Miami ou Armory Show de New York. Elle entretient en outre des contacts étroits avec les musées et sert d’intermédiaire à ses artistes dans les principales expositions internationales.
