Raízes e renascimento: mulheres dominicanas na arte
Raízes e renascimento examina como as artistas dominicanas honram sua história ao mesmo tempo que reformulam o significado do pertencimento em uma cultura em evolução.
Com a curadoria de Austria Ulloa, Raíces y Renacimiento: Mujeres Dominicanas en el Arte (Raízes e renascimento: mulheres dominicanas na arte) traz as obras de 22 artistas dominicanas ao Centro Hostos de Arte e Cultura. Por meio da pintura, escultura, fotografia e técnica mista, as artistas estabelecem uma conexão entre seu legado cultural e a expressão contemporânea, reinterpretando a tradição ao mesmo tempo que incorporam novas direções criativas. Suas obras abordam temas como memória, identidade e transformação, utilizando referências do folclore dominicano, da espiritualidade afro-caribenha e das experiências de migração e Diáspora.
"Essa exposição destaca o poder das vozes das mulheres dominicanas na arte contemporânea. Sua obra é uma prova da resiliência da identidade cultural e das infinitas possibilidade de reinvenção artística”, afirma Austria Ulloa.
