Coco Fusco

Retrospectiva da artista cubana-americana traça a influência de seu trabalho na arte contemporânea.

Com co-curadoria de Anna Gritz e Léon Kruijswijk e assistência curatorial de Linda Franken, Tomorrow, I Will Become an Island (Amanhã, me tornarei uma ilha) apresenta o trabalho de mais de 30 anos da artista cubano-americana Coco Fusco, através de vídeos, fotografias, textos, instalações e performances.

Em sua obra, a artista reflete sobre dinâmicas interculturais e sociais e sobre como é feita a construção do Outro, tendo como base discursos pós-coloniais e teorias psicanalíticas. Nessa linha, Fusco desenvolveu projetos artísticos sobre diversos temas, tais como exposições etnográficas, psicologia animal, turismo sexual no Caribe, condições de trabalho em zonas de livre comércio, registros coloniais suprimidos de lutas indígenas e técnicas de interrogatório militar usadas na guerra contra o terrorismo. Seus trabalhos mais recentes têm como foco a relação entre a poesia e a política revolucionária de Cuba.

Tomorrow, I Will Become an Island esteve em cartaz entre 14 de setembro de 2023 e 7 de janeiro de 2024 no KW em Berlin (Alemanha).
