Exposição de artistas do Brasil contemporâneo nos Estados Unidos explora aspectos políticos e culturais da história brasileira.
Organizada por Adele Nelson, professora assistente de História da Arte na Universidade do Texas em Austin, MacKenzie Stevens, diretora do Centro de Artes Visuais e María Emilia Fernández, curadora assistente, Tecido Social apresenta artistas que veem a arte como uma plataforma para o engajamento crítico com configurações históricas, políticas e culturais de determinado lugar, contribuindo para conversas tanto locais quanto globais sobre a conjuntura democrática, recusando-se a manter a neutralidade e iluminando histórias de opressão sancionada pelo Estado e de desigualdade permanente. Artistas participantes de Social Fabric oferecem diferentes abordagens de ativismo, forjando caminhos rumo à justiça e à cura.
A exposição engloba uma ampla gama de mídias, incluindo instalação, pintura, performance, fotografia, escultura e vídeo, e apresenta mais de 60 obras de arte, muitas delas recentemente comissionadas. A exposição pode ser visitada até dia 10 de março de 2023. Depois será exibida no Museu de Arte Contemporânea da Universidade de São Paulo (MAC USP), Brasil.
