This exhibition is a major historical survey of the modernist art movement in Sudan, from the mid-20th century to the present.
The exhibition will bring in genres and mediums such as photography, film and video, multimedia installation and performing arts. The display will also be unique in including archival material that contextualises the modern art movements and to emphasise the breadth and depth of modernism in Sudan.
Co-curated by Sharjah Art Foundation Director Hoor Al Qasimi and Dr Salah M. Hassan, Goldwin Smith Professor of African and African Diaspora Art History and Visual Culture in the Africana Studies and Research Centre and Department of History of Art and Visual Studies, Cornell University.
