Investec Cape Town Art Fair

From the 14th – 16th of February 2020, the 8th edition of Investec Cape Town Art Fair (ICTAF) will return to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

Positioned as the leading art fair in Africa, ICTAF 2020 will include the foremost galleries from South Africa, the African continent, and abroad. See the full exhibitor list here.

Tomorrows/Today, the section of the fair which is dedicated to highlighting the practices of emerging and under-represented artists, will be curated by Nkule Mabaso (Head Curator, Michaelis Galleries, South Africa) and Luigi Fassi (Artistic Director, MAN-Contemporary Art Museum, Italy).

It its third iteration SOLO will be led by Portia Malatjie. This section will explore different representations of space including but not limited to the urban, domestic, architectural, and virtual, in a variety of media. Each edition of SOLO aims to present a more in-depth insight into the artistic practices of a varied selection of artists than is commonly found in the commercially-driven art fair setting.

Past/Modern introduces a new guest-curated programme by Joao Ferriera (Curator, South Africa) featuring presentations by Modern masters.

For the upcoming edition, the fair will present Southern Guild as a special project. Globally recognised for their leading African collectible design.

Editions showcases leading print galleries and workshops that specialise in prints, multiples, and editions.

Tumelo Mosaka will return to Investec Cape Town Art Fair 2020, this time in the capacity of guest curator for Cultural Platforms and the Talks Programme. Cultural Platforms is the section of the Fair dedicated to highlighting the work of non-profit organisations, collections, and foundations working within the field of contemporary art. The section is subsidised, allowing these organisations to connect meaningfully with the large number of art collectors, curators, and enthusiasts who attend the Fair.

The Talks Programme consists of a series of panel discussions by leading experts on a range of topics spanning the collection, curation and production of art, open to all fairgoers for attendance. The Talks Programme is held at the Westin Hotel, directly across the street from the fair. With Banele Khoza, Danda Jarolimek, Thenjiwe Niki Nkosi, Koyo Kouoh , Nana Oforiatta-Ayim, Sonia Lawson , Kemang wa Lehulere , François-Xavier Gbré and many others.

The Magazines & Publications section showcases magazines, books, journals, and catalogues presented by publishers from around the world with a focus on art.
